Wonderful antique set of 3 french plates with a blue geometric border, an inner black leaf and stem pattern border and 3 different transfer ware scenes in the middle of the plate. The plates measure about 8" across and have no markings. The first plate says Les Voyages En Chemin De Fer at the top and Le Bonheur Du Retour at the bottom. There is a train with steam and a little boy greeting perhaps his grandparents. Their clothing is of the 19th century. The second plate has the same Les Voyages En Chemin De Fer at the top and Le Buffet-Cinq Minutes D'Arret. It shows a buffet with various people dressed in 19th Century clothing. The third plate has the same title at the top and Deuxieme Classe at the bottom and depicts people traveling on a train with 19th C. clothing. The first plate has a little knick on the back and there are no other chips or cracks. The set are Assiettes Parlantes or talking plates very popular in the mid to late 1800's.
